When All the Stars were Falling

When All the Star were Falling

Disclaimer: I don't own Gundam Wing, Relena, or Heero. Or anything related to them. They belong to the wonderful people at Sotsu/Sunrise and Bandai who produced such wonderful things for me to devote my money and free time too. I don't own the song When All the Stars Were Falling either. It belongs to Lisa Loeb who is really cool. Please don't sue me, I only meant this in honor of both, no offense to any of the parties involved if they don't like this.

Description: Just a pretty little romantic thing set to When All the Stars were Falling. Nothing big, nothing to small.

Authors notes: This one I want to dedicate this one to all the people who liked Little Bird, thus encouraging me to write this one as something of a sequel. I know I do have a thing for Relena/Heero fics. But also there is a strange lack of half decent Relena stories. I mostly write these because I'll hear a song and suddenly realize 'ya know, that's perfect for [blank]'(Can you tell I'm obsessed?) I hope you like it, please send feedback if you do and I might make another one. I'm thinking of making a whole series of these if this one goes over half as big as Little Bird.

"Operation M." Relena said to the wind, reflecting on how long it had been since she first heard those words, those two words that had marked a significant change in her life, a little over a year ago. She remembered that day just like it was yesterday, the smell of the shuttle, the sound of the woman telling them they were entering the atmosphere, and the look of the Wing Zero as it fell, almost as a star. The Wing Zero, and its sole occupant, Heero Yuy.

When all the stars were falling,
I reached up like you said.
All the stars were falling,
One hit me in the head,
And I fell down, down, down.
I fell down, down.

Relena closed her eyes letting the wind blow in her hair. It was so refreshing. She could almost smell the salty beach air, remembering what had happened on the beach that day, he'd impressed her so much. It wasn't so much him as it was his actions. She'd never seen anything quite like that. It was so refreshing from the stuffed shirted peacocks of boys who had been fawning over her because of who her father was. Being the richest girl in school had its perks, like never having any worries, and it's downfalls, like no true friends. Heero had been the first person to be truly honest with her about how he felt.

When all the stars were falling,
They fell from above
And I thought of hate, and I thought of hate,
And then I thought of love.
And I fell down, down, down, I fell down, down.

"Omae o Korosu." She mumbled gently into the wind, those three words had changed her life, for the better surprisingly. After that encounter and the residual shock she'd started to grow accustomed to it. After her father died and she had been thrust out of her life style she'd floundered for a bit, even go so far as the attempted assassination of Lady Une, but her memory of him had brought her out of that. She knew he was fighting for other people. But what could she do about it? Then she'd realized, she couldn't be strong just like him. But she could be strong like him. She could work for absolute pacifism.

And I've learned how to dance from a Vincent Van Gogh,
And the nights were wrapped in a white sheet,
And now no one even says hello,
'cause I couldn't stand on my two feet
I fell down
I fell down.

But then she'd almost fallen. When OZ had forced her to be Queen of the World, she'd started to wonder if it was worth it. She had almost wished Heero would have killed her when he came. But he didn't, nor did he make any attempt to rescue her. She'd once been curious if he was a little prince. Now she knew he'd been her knight in shining armor, rescuing her whenever she needed him the most, whether by his presence, giving her strength just by existing, or by actual act when she got in over her head. She also realized, that no matter how hard she tried, or how much she wished it, he would never be her prince.

Now the peace you will find, in your own you have found,
The lights of the city are the stars on the ground.
"I may not be a Quaalude living in a speed zone,"
But I could be restful, I could be someone's home,
If I fell down,
And I fell down, down.

Relena opened her eyes and looked over the city beneath her. The lights of the city were blurring through her tears. She sighed deeply and walked into her room. She changed and pulled down her sheets getting ready for bed. Then she noticed something. Sitting on her bed was the stuffed bear Heero had given her for her 16th birthday. But she could have sworn she'd left it on the window. She glanced at the window and something caught the moonlight and reflected it into her eyes. She walked over to the windowsill and saw a small picture frame sitting there where the bear had been. In the picture frame was a picture of Heero, she picked it up delicately and just gazed at it for a second. Then her attention turned towards the window frame, she noticed a small dent where something heavy had been forced against it to open the window. Relena flicked it with a finger and ran out onto the balcony again. She saw a shadow disappearing into some shrubbery. She knew who it was. She blinked out some tears that had formed in her eyes and returned to her room. So maybe someday, she decided, maybe someday he would see fit to be her prince. But she couldn't force him, and she wouldn't either. She could wait as long as it took.

Now all the stars have fallen.
