Description: Quatre and Cathy share a kiss. But will they ever admit it to themselves and their friends?
Subplot includes Trowa's encounters with an obsessive Preventer named Becci.

Quatre was on his was on his way to the apartment he shared with his best friend Trowa. Trowa was out of town temporarily on a mission and so he was on his own for awhile. Quatre had just gone out grocery shopping because there was no actual food in the house. He climbed the stairs to the apartment door and took out his keys, That's odd he thought to himself. I could have sworn I locked it.
He opened the door and walked in, setting his groceries down on the counter he started putting them away when he heard something. Quatre froze, it sounded like a sob, a few minutes passed and the sound wasn't repeated. Quatre slowly continued putting away his groceries. When he finally finished he threw away the bag and went out into the living room. Then he saw where the sound earlier had come from. Trowa's sister, Catherine was sitting on the sofa surrounded by used tissues pretending to watch something on T.V. between sobs.
"Catherine?" Quatre said, startled. He'd met Trowa almost five years ago and Cathy a few months later but her appearance had startled him. He'd never seen Catherine cry before. Catherine looked up slightly startled and attempted to dry her lingering tears.
"Oh. Hello Quatre. I just came to see Trowa but I forgot he wouldn't be here. I should probably be going now actually..." Quatre sat down next to her probably looking about as concerned as he felt. He was very worried about her, Catherine was normally so strong.
"What's wrong Catherine?" He said gently and she broke down again.
"Ohhh Quatre...I just had another bad date...All he was interested in were other girls." She started crying uncontrollably again "I'm starting to wonder why I bother if all my dates turn out like this."
Poor Quatre was trying to figure out what to do. Finally he did the first thing that came to mind, he grabbed a blanket off the back of the sofa and wrapped it around her shoulders. Then he took a deep breath and hugged her letting her cry on his shoulder. This was one of those moments where he was really hoping Trowa didn't come home right at this moment because of what he'd probably think. Once Catherine was calmer he finally spoke.
"Can I get you anything? I just went shopping so I could make you some tea or something."
"That would be nice Quatre." She sobbed, dabbing lightly at her eyes.
Quatre went into the kitchen and fixed Catherine some nice herbal tea he'd just bought. He boiled some hot water and added the tea bags all the while listening to Catherine's sobs in the living room. It tugged at his heartstrings. He'd had 29 sisters and knew how bad dates could be for girls. He added milk and sugar (yes I know it sounds sick to us American's, but this is how the English make tea, and cocoa for that matter, my old art tutor was English) and took the cup in to Catherine in the living room. He set it down on the coffee table in front of her and sat back down.
"Thank you Quatre." Catherine sniffed "You really are sweet, you know that? I should try dating more guys like you." Quatre blushed and then slowly as his cheeks lost the crimson color he looked back at her, she wasn't crying as much anymore. In fact, she was actually smiling a little.
"Catherine?" Quatre said finally.
"Cathy." She said firmly.
"Pardon?"
"Call me Cathy." She said gently.
"Right, Cathy, what exactly happened tonight?" Quatre said.
"Well," she said deflating slightly "I was on a blind date. One of my best friends boyfriends brother actually. Well, I figured since he's such a nice guy his brother must be ok. Well it turns out the reason he isn't taken is because his last girlfriend left him for cheating on her. He was drooling over everything with two legs and a skirt. Finally I got fed up with it and left. But he drove me and your place was closer then mine so I thought I'd just come here and call a cab or something since Trowa gave me the keys a little while ago. So I came here but I couldn't call any cab places or anything because I didn't bring any money so I just sat here and cried until you came back." She sobbed the last part out and Quatre handed her another tissue. She started bawling and Quatre hugged her again and she fell into him and started crying on his shoulder again.
"There, there Cathy. It'll be ok."
"Why do I even bother though, Quatre?" She kept sobbing. "This is my fifth bad date this month. I don?t need a guy in my life, do I?"
"No of course you don't Cathy. You don't need a guy in your life. But I still think there's something to be said for finding 'The One' but you don't have to chase after that your entire life."
Cathy started sniffling again and dried her eyes and sat up straight.
"Th...thank you Quatre." She said gently. "You're really going to be a good catch for some girl someday."
The next thing she did was unexplainable, whether it was the dark, the tea, the proximity of his body, or the unwatched T.V. show begging for attention in the background nobody would ever know. But for whatever the reason Cathy leaned in and kissed Quatre. Quatre's natural reaction was to return the kiss gently. But a few seconds later his mind caught up with his body.
"Whoa!" Quatre practically screamed jumping up. He put on hand on top of his head as though holding his blonde hair in place.
"Quatre?" Cathy said nervously, obviously worried about him.
"I can't believe I just kissed my best friends sister while he's out of town."
"Quatre, it's alright. I kissed you first remember?" she said gently standing up trying to calm him down.
"Yeah but still. I kissed back." Quatre said backing away from Cathy and almost tripping over a table.
Cathy looked sympathetic and sat back down so he could try and calm himself down a little. Quatre for his part just sort of sat on the floor rocking back and forth going "Oh God, oh God, oh God?"
Poor Quatre, Cathy thought to herself staring at him I shouldn't have done that to him. His friendship with Trowa means a lot to him. He doesn't know what to make of me now.
Eventually Cathy stood up and took the blanket Quatre had wrapped around her shoulders and draped it over his shoulders and wrapped it around his arms.
"I'm sorry Quatre." She whispered to him and then got up and washed the mug he'd put her tea in. She rinsed it and put it in the dishwasher with a few other dirty dishes. Apparently Quatre didn't eat too much judging by the dishes. Either that or he washed them regularly. She was fairly impressed, even Trowa didn't do dishes willingly.

Meanwhile Quatre was finally settling down. It was starting to dawn on him that nothing had happened beyond a kiss, and Trowa wasn't home. It was nothing serious. But then why did he feel compelled to kiss Cathy again? Ahhhh! Stop it Quatre, stop it stop it stop it! She's Trowa's sister. She is your best friends sister. You don't kiss your best friends sister! Quatre kept rocking slightly pulling the blanket all the way around himself.
